Everything you always wanted to know about...

PENGUINS!! We are underway with our study of all the different kinds of penguins in Antarctica. In this blog, you get the chance to ask any question that you may be curious about. Then we as scientists and explorers will do some research to try to answer your questions during the next few weeks. So get curious and ASK about who, what, when, where, or why.

Happy Holidays

This is my favorite time of year with all the holiday celebrations. There is Diwali, Las Posadas, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and the New Year. With all the celebrations come foods from every culture that have many different yummy tastes, smells, and colors. My favorite food during the holidays are the pretty sugar cookies I get to bake and decorate with my family and friends. Then eating them with hot chocolate and marshmallows is a tradition. I also love the sticky rice with Chinese sausage stuffing we make to eat with our ham. There are just too many foods to list that I love to eat. Please write and tell me a few of the things you love to make or eat with your family during this special time of year.

Wishing you and yours a safe and joyous holiday season!!

So many ways to show we are thankful!!

We are well under way in our new school year of 2008/2009. We have been busy with new learning, but I thought we would bring back some old learning by writing in our blog.

So I thought I would start it off with this Thanksgiving holiday season. We have shared on our podcast and in our sharing topics about all the wonderful things we are thankful for. But how can we show that we are thankful? I show my friends and family by giving them flowers, or nice cards, and especially hugs. I donate food, or toys, or clothes to those who are in need. I give the gift of time if anyone needs help with simple chores. But the greatest gift of all is just remembering to say those important 2 words - "thank you!!"

What ways can you show you are thankful to your family, friends, or teachers?

Down On The Farm

In the past few weeks, you have learned all about farms. I grew up on a farm near Fresno. We grew grapes and raised lots of chickens. Across the street from my house was a large dairy farm so I have milked a cow before with my hands!! Have you ever been to a real farm?

We have learned about many different farm animals. Which animal is your favorite? Don't forget to tell me why you would want to have one on your farm. I can't wait to read your responses.

Gung Hay Fat Choy

Happy Chinese New Year of the Rat! In the Chinese calendar, each year is represented by an animal. I am the Year of the Monkey. I am like a monkey because I like to think of new ideas and solve problems. I am also very curious.

If you were born in:
2000 - Year of the Dragon - You have good health and energy; are honest and brave
2001 - Year of the Snake - You love books, food, and music; have luck with money
2002 - Year of the Horse - You are popular, cheerful, and nice; are wise and a hard worker

Which animal are you? How are you like that animal?

Aesop's Fables

We have been practicing a lot for our upcoming play performance. Now that we have heard and sung about so many "Aesop's Fables", tell us which fable you like the best and why.
